KILO FOR A CAUSE

“One kilo of rice, two pesos of hope”

KILO FOR A CAUSE is a community impact program by Baao Rice Trading in partnership with Wayfind Impact Partners (WIP) — a South Australia–based social enterprise. This initiative supports public schools in Baao, Camarines Sur by donating ₱2 for every kilo of retail rice sold.

₱1 is donated by BRT and matched with another ₱1 from WIP — turning everyday rice purchases into direct support for school projects led by Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).

Implementing Partners

Baao Rice Trading (BRT)
A local rice trading business based in Baao, Camarines Sur, BRT is committed to supporting local communities by providing affordable and high-quality rice while giving back through community programs.

Wayfind Impact Partners (WIP)
A South Australia–based social enterprise that supports purpose-driven businesses and community organisations to design, fund, and deliver impactful social and economic initiatives. With over two decades of experience in impact investment, philanthropy, and community development, WIP helps partners turn bold ideas into practical outcomes that benefit people and place.

Where It Starts

The first phase of the program is focused in Baao, Camarines Sur, and involves selected public schools within the municipality.

How It Works

Retail sales only (wholesale/partner sales excluded)
For every kilo sold, ₱2 is donated to the chosen public school
Customers choose which school to support during purchase
Donations are tracked through logbooks, spreadsheets, and system reports
Funds are released monthly via cheque to the PTA with proper documentation

Transparency & Compliance

In line with DepEd Order No. 39, s. 2009, which reiterates DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2001, the Department strictly prohibits the commercialization of the agency through endorsement, accreditation, or approval of goods and services. As stated:

“The Department, its personnel, and its field offices shall not endorse, accredit, or approve any product or service.” – DepEd Order No. 39, s. 2009

In full compliance with this policy, Baao Rice Trading and Wayfind Impact Partners will never request, require, or expect any public school, teacher, or PTA to promote or recommend our business in any form. Participation in KILO FOR A CAUSE is purely voluntary and community-driven, with no commercial obligations to the school.

Program Impact

KILO FOR A CAUSE is more than just a rice donation program — it’s a movement that empowers communities to support education through everyday actions.

By simply buying rice, customers are helping fund real, on-the-ground needs in public schools — such as classroom improvements, school supplies, feeding programs, and other student-focused initiatives led by PTAs.

This initiative strengthens the role of Parent-Teacher Associations by giving them the resources to plan and implement their own school projects that directly benefit students.

It also promotes transparency, community trust, and shared responsibility, allowing every buyer to play an active role in shaping a better future for local children.

Through this program, we aim to:

✔ Build a culture of giving within the local community
✔ Show that even small, everyday purchases can lead to big, long-term impact
✔ Foster partnerships between businesses, social enterprises, and schools
